Last year, I posted the Flash Supplier engagement at FMS on LinkedIn. I thought it would be interesting to quickly look at this year and see how this year’s engagement compares to last.
Noteworthy changes from last year:
- Intel and WD are significantly upping their game on sessions. Have much to say? 🙂
- Micron is decreasing their activity this year, no longer having a booth or keynote but is remaining a sponsor.
- Toshiba and Hynix are maintaining the same level of activity as last year.
- The largest NAND supplier increased their engagement from last year, now including four sessions and becoming a sponsor.
- YMTC dipped their toes in the water last year with a keynote and a booth, but the water looks to have been too cold to increase their game this year; I was a little surprised to not see *any* activity.
I captured this information on July 12, so there may be increased activity from each vendor as we approach FMS. Go check out the latest agenda and engagement directly on the FMS website: https://flashmemorysummit.com/
I think it’s great to see suppliers engage at events like this to help the industry continue to innovate. I get my best ideas by listening to others talk about random topics and I’m sure others are the same way. And it’s absolutely FREE for suppliers to participate in sessions. Sharing is caring!
I have been around IT since I was in high school (running a customized BBS, and hacking) and am not the typical person that finds one area of interest at work; I have designed databases, automated IT processes, written code at the driver level and all the way up to the GUI level, ran an international software engineering team, started an e-commerce business that generated over $1M, ran a $5B product marketing team for one of the largest semiconductor players in the world, traveled as a sales engineer for the largest storage OEM in the world, researched and developed strategy for one of the top 5 enterprise storage providers, and traveled around the world helping various companies make investment decisions in startups. I also am extremely passionate about uncovering insights from any data set. I just like to have fun by making a notable difference, influencing others, and to work with smart people.
Thanks Ryan, interesting data. I think the YMTC reduced activity at FMS is caused by the poor US-China relations. Many Chinese based executives are not traveling to the US during 2019.
